Overview

Gold ore is rock in which gold is present but not yet separated. Its value depends almost entirely on how much recoverable gold it contains and how difficult that gold is to extract, which is why sampling and metallurgical testing come before any commercial discussion.

Ore is typically relevant to buyers who operate or contract processing facilities. Transport is heavy and costly relative to contained gold, so logistics and the location of processing play a large role in whether a proposed transaction makes sense.

Product forms and buyer considerations

Run-of-mine ore
Rock as extracted, without crushing or upgrading.
Crushed or sorted ore
Ore that has been reduced in size or hand-sorted before sale.
Buyer considerations
Whether the ore is free-milling or refractory, which significantly affects processing route and cost.

Specifications to confirm

  • Sampling method and who carried it out
  • Grade estimate from an independent laboratory
  • Metallurgical recovery test results, if any
  • Tonnage, moisture and particle size
  • Permits required to export unprocessed ore

Due diligence

  • Insist on representative sampling rather than selected hand specimens.
  • Verify the legal right to extract and sell the material.
  • Check national rules, as some countries restrict export of unprocessed ore.

The exact product form, specifications, documentation and availability must be confirmed for each proposed transaction. We do not publish prices, inventory, grades or delivery times.

Frequently asked questions

What grade is the ore?

We do not state grades. Grade must be established by sampling and independent testing for each proposed transaction.

Can I receive a sample before committing?

Sampling arrangements can be discussed during the inquiry, subject to applicable regulations and logistics.
